Andaman and Nicobar Islands are known for their picturesque beauty, marine life and seafood. A perfect combination of culture, beauty and heritage is what Andaman offers its tourists. This place is visited by globetrotters year-round; and why not?
But now, Andaman and Nicobar Islands are ready for a makeover. The government has planned to develop the region to boost tourism even further in Andaman islands. This development is a step to take towards making the destination more tourist friendly. This might give a competition to its counterpart destination such as Mauritius and Maldives
The plan includes bringing on more tree houses and beach shacks. Making lovely beach resorts in the region is also a plan. The government is also putting up turtle observatory centres in the area for tourists to visit. Besides this, new nature trails and camping facilities will be introduced for the tourists.
This project is going to cost INR 650 crore, according to the Home Ministry official. This project will have 60% employment for the locals. Can you believe it? How great is that!
Under “Ease of Tourism” around 30 islands have been exempted from Restricted Area Permit. Provisions are being made to uplift water sports in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
And that’s not it.
Since 2014, 40 homestays and 121 tour operators have registered themselves in Andaman. Some more add ons to this list are floating jetties, light and sound show facility, licensed driving centres and parasailing. The destination has entertained 5.13 Lakh tourists including more than 20,000 foreigners. 4.88 lakh tourists including 15,000 foreigners were registered in 2017.
With all these developments in the to-do list for Andaman, it will be counted as one of the best beach destinations in the world, soon. Through these initiatives, tourists will prefer to go to an equally beautiful and less expensive place as compared to Maldives and Mauritius. So, it is clearly a great choice!
