If you’re a bookworm then you’re in luck! A dream job awaits you in the Maldives as a Barefoot Bookseller. Ultimate Library and luxury five-star resort Soneva Fushi created a pop-up bookshop in the Maldives last December. They are now looking for someone to leave it all behind and take up the post of running this little shop, reports Lonely Planet.
Where and when will the pop-up shop open?
The pop-up shop will reopen in mid-October, which is when the new staffer will be expected to take on all their responsibilities. The shop is situated on the beautiful Baa Atoll. The employee will be required to help resort guests with literary experiences like writers’ workshops and personal reading consultations. Additionally, the lucky one to land the job will also be free to come up with new and fresh ideas to run the pop-up.
If you’re worried about prior training or experience, you’re sorted. The selected applicant will have a month’s pre-departure product training with the team from Ultimate Library. They will then fly to the Maldives for their six-month placement.
What does the ideal barefoot bookseller need to have?
If you want to score your dream job, here’s what you need to have:
- A strong passion for books
- The ability to interact with guests of all ages
- Have excellent written and verbal skills
- Be able to write a blog about their experiences
- The ability to host workshops and other events with guests
- Strong knowledge of running social media pages and following trends
- To be a team player and self-starter with a sense of fun and creativity
The bookshop was essentially created to reflect the stunning natural environment that the resort provides. Barefoot Booksellers in the past have been able to successfully provide guests with unforgettable literary experiences. The resort is now looking for an applicant who can bring fresh new ideas to the role.
