The recently opened Dinoparque in Portugal could just be the real Jurassic Park you’ve been looking for. It is located in Lourinhã, just north of the Portuguese capital Lisbon.
Unlike the famous movie series started by Steven Spielberg which placed their Jurassic Park in Costa Rica, Dinoparque is in Lourinhã the self-proclaimed “dino capital” of Europe. The town is famous for the Lourinhã Formation, a fossil-rich geological formation dating back to the Jurassic period.
Palaeontologists have found fossilized bones, eggs, and footprints that are over 150 million years old. Dinoparque is the first dinosaur-themed park in Portugal. It is filled with 120 full-scale reproductions of 70 different species of dinosaur.

They are made of resin and dot the ten-hectare forest it sits in. There are four different routes based on the four eras represented in the park, the Paleozoic and the Mesozoic, and the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous.
At this real Jurassic Park, you can explore reproductions of everything from the Tyrannosaurus Rex and the Triceratops to the various species discovered in Lourinhã. These include the Lourinhanosaurus, a carnivore, and the Lourinhasaurus, a herbivore.
Visitors can also engage in excavation work at a set-up paleontological site. Here, they can see how dinosaur skeletons are dug up and reconstructed. The Dinoparque also has a museum exhibiting real fossils discovered at Lourinhã. You can find out more about the Dinoparque on their official website.
