If you are a true Harry Potter fan, I am sure you already know which house you are in. If not, let the Official Sorting Hat SORT it out for you or take the quiz ‘Which Hogwarts house do you belong to?’ to find out. Each house comes with its own unique set of traits, a variety of personality quirks and preferences. We might not be able to ‘apparate’ or use ‘portkeys’ like in Harry Potter, but we can at least plan a vacay according to our Hogwarts houses.

If only you could just take your cart with your pet and ram into the brick wall at 9 ¾! Even if almost all of that is impossible (other than RAMMING YOURSELF into a wall), let’s take some time to check out these travel destinations which are carefully picked based on your Hogwarts house.

Here’s Where You Should Travel Based On Your Hogwarts House

1Where Should Gryffindors Venture Off To?

“You might belong in Gryffindor,

Where dwell the brave at heart.

Their daring nerve and chivalry

Set Gryffindors apart”

The very house of our heroes: Harry, Ron, and Hermoine, Gryffindor is known to be brave, adventurous, daring, and chivalrous. And keeping in mind these qualities, we suggest adventurous destinations for a Gryffindor. Visit Nicaragua for an adrenaline-filled adventure. The country has volcanic landscapes, colonial architecture, and sensational beaches. Swim between remote, idyllic islands, or canoe through pristine forests where you might just spot some fantastic beasts.

Next, try skydiving in New Zealand! As Gryffindors are the most adventurous of the houses, all you thrill-seekers can also go for world-class surfing and skiing along with bungee jumping and bungee swinging for more action. All of these activities will award you with extreme landscapes (backdrop of mountains or the ocean) which will surely appeal to your passionate, fiery nature.

2Hufflepuffs, You’ll Feel Right At Home In These Places

City Parks, Friendliest Cities, Hogwarts

“You might belong in Hufflepuff,

Where they are just and loyal,

Those patient Hufflepuffs are true,

And unafraid of toil”

While we know Hufflepuffs are downplayed due to their niceness, let’s not forget some of the most badass Harry Potter characters have been from this very house (such as Newt Scamander, Nymphadora Tonks, and Cedric Diggory). Known for their patience, loyalty, and dedication, Hufflepuffs enjoy being part of a community and therefore would look for a place that matches their vibe.

Hufflepuffs should definitely visit Ireland, with its good-natured people. The country is known for its social and friendly nightlife. Every second street here has at least one pub filled with locals and tourists, who come together to celebrate life. This way, you get to experience what locals call craic: the Gaelic term for fun and enjoyment.

Next is Canada for another relaxed and peaceful vacation. As Canadians are known to value equality and diversity, this would be the perfect travel destination for a Hufflepuff. The globe’s second-biggest country offers you sky-high mountains, glinting glaciers, spectral rainforests, and remote beaches along with its captivating mix of cultures.

Bonus: Visit Newfoundland to pay homage to our beloved Hufflepuff Cedric Diggory’s most famous spell, turning a rock into a labrador.

Denmark

The next suggestion for a Hufflepuff would be Denmark. The nicest witches in Hogwarts should go here. It is known to be one of the most liveable and happiest nations on earth. The inclusiveness of this country allows everyone to be catered to, be they young, old, gay, or straight, and whether they travel with kids, pets, or bikes in tow.

3Slytherins Would Love These Unique Places

Aurora, Norway,Hogwarts

“Or perhaps in Slytherin,

You’ll make your real friends.

Those cunning folk use any means

To achieve their ends”

Okay, so Slytherins face discrimination most of the time due to one or two evil wizards who come through your house. But, let’s not forget Harry Potter himself was one request away from Slytherin and many key characters (Severus Snape, Albus Potter, Andromeda Tonks) have been from the same house. Slytherins are known to be ambitious, determined, and highly inventive witches and wizards. So your ideal vacation should be cool, unique, and exclusively for you!

We will start off with Norway; also regarded as one of the most beautiful countries on earth. The mountains, Northern Lights, cosmopolitan cities, diverse wildlife, and fjords of Norway make it one of the most exciting places to visit. Rest your wands and enjoy the stirring landscapes along with Scandinavian sophistication at its best here in Norway.

Crowds pass below colorful signs in Akihabara. The well known electronics district specializes in the sales of video games, anime, manga, and computer goods, Hogwarts

As Slytherins value tradition as well as exclusivity, what’s better than Japan? A country that is rich in culture yet known for its modernity. It has centuries-old shrines standing alongside sleek skyscrapers and is equally popular for its natural beauty. This country is also a paradise for both shoppers and foodies alike.

Svartifoss, Black Waterfall, Iceland, Music Video, Hogwarts

For a truly first-class vacation, we’d suggest Iceland next. A country where legends come to life. You can indulge in unique things such as exploring ice tunnels, heading inside a (dormant) volcano, staying in a luxury hotel while watching the Northern Lights, and taking helicopter rides over the beautiful landscape. Bonus: If you’re a ‘Game of Thrones’ fan, you’ve probably seen Iceland’s amazing beauty on screen, as it has been used for numerous locations in Westeros on the show.

4What Places Are In Store For Ravenclaws?

Glenfinnan, Scotland, United Kingdom - September 9, 2015, Hogwarts, Virtual Train Rides

“Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,

If you’ve a ready mind,

Where those of wit and learning,

Will always find their kind”

The clever ones among the Hogwarts lot, Ravenclaws share a love of intelligence and wisdom. Therefore we would suggest cultural travel destinations for them. Don’t miss out on the birthplace of Harry Potter first – England. Everybody who’s immersed themselves in the magical world of Harry Potter has probably dreamt of experiencing its wonders. Travel through Britain and see all the places that inspired J K Rowling’s ‘Harry Potter’ series. From the corridors of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to the quaint shops at Diagon Alley, there are many Harry Potter filming locations to visit.

Our next suggestion is Scotland for its ancient architecture, deep history, stunning landscapes, superb food, and warmth and hospitality. Your thirst for knowledge can be easily quenched by Scotland’s rich, multi-layered history. This is a place where every corner of the landscape is steeped in the past.

The last one for Ravenclaws is Greece. Explore the thousands of islands of this island country for their ancient sun-bleached ruins, the balmy Aegean lapping an endless coastline, and a culture alive with passionate music and wonderful cuisine.

So, Which Of These Locations Caught Your Fancy?

All the places mentioned here are magical, no pun intended. They each have some amazing things for you to do and see. So go ahead and make some plans to visit some or all! And while you’re at it, do you think we missed any of your favourite destinations? Ones you think will perfectly suit your Hogwarts House? If yes then, let us know in the comments below!
