Qatar is gearing up to entice more tourists to come to visit the country with the launch of the ‘Summer in Qatar’ (SiQ) festival. The Qatar summer festival began earlier this month, reports Lonely Planet. While Doha is a common stopover for many travellers going to different parts of the world, it is not as favoured as a tourist destination.
The festival was launched by the Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC). The programme will run all the way until 16 August. QNTC is partnering with a multitude of organisations across the country to offer tourists striking deals and discounts. These can be applied across a wide range of travel, entertainment, hospitality and sightseeing options.
Qatar relaxes visa rules for citizens
Further, to make it easier for tourists to stay in Qatar, the visa rules have been altered for citizens across 80 countries. They will no longer need to apply for a visa or pay to enter the country. Qatar Airways is offering a 25% discount for flights to Doha from 160 destinations worldwide. Additionally, there will be special stopover packages for long-haul customers. This will include discounted luxury hotel stays and sightseeing tours of the city and desert.
Qatar Summer Festival offers special discounts for recreational activities
Within the country, there are several options available for entertainment right at your doorstep. These include live performances, indoor activities, sports and edutainment, special exhibitions as well as retail promotions across nine malls.
Theme parks and museums are rolling out exclusive passes that offer a range of discounts for tourists. If you purchase a ‘Your Plus’ or ‘Family Culture Pass’ from any of the museums operated by Qatar Museums, you will be eligible for further discounts across a range of activities.
These include jumping on a trampoline at Bounce; a visit to kids’ entertainment destinations Megapolis or Circusland. You could also spend an afternoon at Summer Entertainment City, an indoor theme park. With the special offer, a seat will also be available at any of the summer’s live shows and festivals, from Doha Comedy Festival to Hello Kitty Live.
