Just one hour away from Christchurch, the relaxing getaway with outdoor wooden hot tubs is set above the breath-taking Canterbury’s Banks Peninsula, amidst a working cattle farm. They getaway lies 20 minutes away from the nearest road, truly making it an escape into nature.
Dating back to 1843, the farm is home to comfortable pods with luxury beds. They also have solar-powered lights and Wi-Fi connections. The biggest draw, however, is the private outdoor hot tub where guests can take a luxurious soak.
The hot tubs and pods have been designed so that they give visitors the best possible view, while still remaining private and secluded. The pods themselves were designed by a local builder. They feature fire pits and kitchen facilities in addition to the wood-fired hot tubs.
The accommodation is run by Kate and Richie Bocock, who were inspired by the beauty of the area surrounding the farm they were working on. According to Kate Bocock, “It’s a busy, modern world, but this experience suits people who are adventurous, romantic, know how to take care of a fire, and cook a steak”.
Prices start at NZ $350 (USD $250) for one night, though it drops to NZ $300 (USD 4217) for every night you spend at the Te Wepu Intrepid Pods after that. Guests can also buy a hamper of local produce, and Te Wepu-farmed meat for an additional NZ $100. Accommodation can be booked through the Te Wepu website.
