In 2015, Thailand allowed travellers from different nationalities to apply for a visa in advance for their visa on arrival. Three years later in 2018, VFS Global has partnered with the Immigration Bureau of Thailand in offering the e-visa on arrival to the travellers. The service of this e-visa is going to start from 14th of February 2019. The cost of this e-visa is 2,000 THB and is being set up for 20 countries. From November 2019 until 30th April 2019 Immigration Bureau is weaving out this fee. The countries that are eligible for this are Taiwan, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, San Marino, Romania, Papua New Guinea, Mauritius, China, Cyprus, Andoria, Bhutan, Bulgaria, Ethiopia, Fiji, India, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Maldives, Malta and Ukraine.
The idea for this wonderful service is that travellers can avoid long queues at the airport for their visa on arrival.
The procedure for this visa is as simple as shopping online. Travellers who are eligible will be able to book their e-visa online. Once they fill out the electronic form and make an e-payment, they will receive the travel authorisation within three days. The payment can be made regardless of the working hours of the embassy. Once you reach the airport, you have to show your passport and the QR code you will receive (after filling the form) as electronic pre-registration at the airline counter and you will get your actual visa there and then. You can read more about applying for a visa here.
This rule is applicable for travellers who will be passing through Suvarnabhumi Airport, Don Mueang Airport, Phuket Airport and Chiang Mai Airport.
Now you can save some of your time at these busy airports.
