Those looking to have a truly spooky Halloween are in luck this year. 1,000 travellers will get to enjoy a huge party in the shadow of Dracula’s Castle in Transylvania, Romania.
Organised by G Adventures, the event will start on 31 October in Bucharest, the Romanian capital. From here, visitors will be taken to the famous Bran Castle, which they will be able to tour. Secret tunnels, hidden staircases, and narrow corridors will be explored in the 14th-century castle.
As the managing director of G Adventures said, “unlike many [of our] other trips, which focus on small groups, the new Dracula’s Halloween Party in Transylvania will see us taking away a thousand brave travellers for the ultimate fancy dress party at Dracula’s Castle. The whole trip is designed to create the ultimate Halloween experience, from a tour of Bran Castle itself, to the giant tented party in the castle grounds. Fancy dress won’t be done by halves as travellers go all-out with weird and wonderful outfits to get everyone in the spirit of Halloween.”
Party at the real Dracula’s Castle this Halloween
Following the tour, the evening will see a massive party taking place beside the castle. There will be costumes, drinks, dancing, music, and even food trucks to while the night away. The next morning, guests can rouse themselves for a trip to Braşov, where they can either go hiking or explore more of the fascinating local history.
Bran castle is one of the most well-known of those associated with the legend of Dracula. However, it actually has little to do with Vlad the Impaler, who inspired the character. Located in the Carpathian Mountains, the castle was a border crossing point before becoming a royal residence. Today it serves as a museum.
G Adventures is also offering a longer seven-day tour during the Halloween period of the other sites liked to the legend of Dracula. These include Poenari Castle in Bucharest, which was the actual castle of Vlad the Impaler, and Sighișoara Fortress. It was built in the 12th century and was the birthplace of Vlad Dracula.
