A Romanian tourist has died after slipping on wet rocks near the Bridalveil Fall at Yosemite National Park and falling 20 feet. The tourist, Lucian Miu left the marked trail to view the falls, reports Travel + Leisure.
21-year-old Miu’s death is the third incident to have occurred near the waterfall this week. One visitor was injured while climbing up a boulder to a pool at the base of Bridalveil Fall on Monday, while the other fell near at Lower Yosemite Fall and was trapped underwater in a creek before managing to escape.
Emergency responders rescued the visitors and provided medical attention before they were taken by helicopter to ambulances waiting at El Capitan Meadow.

In a statement, park officials said that “Over the last few years at Bridalveil Fall alone, there have been 23 documented incidents in which visitors have slipped and injured themselves, 14 of which involved head injuries. Although others may be engaging in the same activity, do not perceive popularity as an endorsement for your safety. When you go into these areas, you’re not only exposing yourself to serious injury but also your rescuers.”
