This summer, Woman Fest plans to bring together women in an “all-woman radical participation festival”.
To be held in Somerset, the festival wants to involve women from all disciplines and walks of life through what is termed “radical participation”. This means that all those who attend can share something personal, whether it is a skill, a piece of art, food, or even a chat.
The Woman Fest is run by an all-female team. All the staff at the event will also be comprised solely of women. This will include everything from workshop facilitators to security and maintenance workers. Local organic and vegetarian food will be catered at the event, though no alcohol allowed on site. Drinks and other snacks can be bought separately.
A Girl’s Day Out At the Woman Fest
There will be workshops based on a range of interests, such as yoga, dance, nature-based crafts, and even circus skills. The main stage will feature music, poetry, and other performances. Also available is a spa area and on-site therapists offering massage, acupuncture, and more. On one of the days, there will also be a special fancy dress event, where women can dress up as their favourite goddess.
The festival will take place between 16-19 August of this year. Anybody who identifies as a woman, and is over 18, is welcome to attend. Teenage girls are also welcome when accompanied by an adult guardian.
Tickets start from £185 (£165 with concessions) and include food. 20% of the profits will go to charity. It will be split between Tree Sisters, who restore tropical rainforests, and MEENA, a group who support child and women refugees in Birmingham. To find out more, visit their official website.
