Tourists now have a chance to experience the Eiffel Tower and the view around it in a whole new way. They can now zip line off the second floor of the iconic structure for a limited period of time. The 90 km/h zip-line installed on the monument allows visitors to make the 800 meter trip down in only around one minute, reports The Sun.
Smash Perrier, a popular attraction, launched by the water brand Perrier, is calling out to thrill-seeking tourists to take part in this exciting activity. The zip line first opened in 2017 for seven days to celebrate the French Open. The attraction is re-opening to once again align with the French Open which will take place through June 9. This year also marks the 130th anniversary of the Eiffel Tower, another reason for the reopening of the zip line.
Francoise Bresson Director of Communication at Perrier said that it was a “once in a lifetime experience,” adding that he was often asked to re-open the attraction.
Getting access to the zip line experience from the Eiffel Tower
The zip line is almost as fast as a tennis ball and will give riders a view of the city at a height of over 377 feet. The application process for the zip line is rather unique. Those interested can apply for the free spots through random drawings on Perrier’s Instagram.
The drawings were open from May 29 through June 2. Participants were asked to post a story on Instagram using the Smash Perrier stickers, tagging their location, and mentioning @perrierfr for a chance to win. Winners will be notified through direct messages on Instagram.
If you aren’t up for zip lining, the Eiffel Tower also hosts a restaurant on the first floor where you can enjoy multi-course meals while enjoying the panoramic views of Palais de Chaillot and the tower’s architecture from its interior.
