The glitziest night for the film industry saw some outstanding nominations from all over the world. Along with that, diverse locations received love and screen time; and some of them turned out to be well-placed on our travel bucket list this year. For your love for entertainment and travel, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite locations below along with the Oscar winners. Here, have a look:
Joker
The movie was predominantly shot in New York City, Jersey City, and Newark. The most famous locations would be Brooklyn Army Terminal (as Arkham State Hospital), the famous “street steps scene”- at 167th Street between Jerome and Anderson avenues, Bronx and the Robert F. Kennedy (Triborough) Bridge lift span that crosses the Harlem River. Many scenes that look the most “Gotham” are actually filmed in Newark, for that mix of gritty old New York City. Storefronts were changed to look like New York City stores.
Parasite
Oscar Winner Parasite takes upon issues of wealth and poverty in Asia’s fourth-largest economy, but the filming took place around Seoul and in Jeonju where Bong Joon-ho and his team built all the houses. The Parks’ house along with even the entire neighbourhood where the Ki-woo (Choi Woo Sik) and his family were living was an entirely newly-built set. The Park House, a palatial ultra-modern estate, was built with extensive details in mind, and the Kims’ sub-basement along with the facades of about 16 or 17 other small complexes, were built in a tank that they could fill up with water for one tragic scene.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
Not relying much on CGI, Once upon a time in Hollywood has used many authentic locations for 1969 LA. You can visit: Musso and Grill, which is Hollywood’s oldest restaurant, Pussycat Theatre- (once L.A.’s most famous adult film theatre), el coyote café-(where Sharon Tate ate her last meal before she was murdered), Playboy Mansion (Holmby Hills) and even classic Cinerama Dome.
Bombshell
The movie was shot completely in Los Angeles, California. The production team’s attention to detail is worth all the appreciation as they worked scrupulously to transform Downtown Los Angeles into New York, where News Corp is based. With their extensive research, the team recreated the settings (and the characters) with the help of prosthetics and elaborate set designs. The movie contains FOX News offices fashioned by the team through studying various footage and photographs.
Jojo Rabbit
This Nazi German comedy-drama was filmed in historic towns and villages in the Czech Republic. While the interiors were built in the Barrandov Studios in Prague, most of the exterior shots of the German city where the movie takes place were filmed in Žatec, a magnificent historic old town just 50 miles northeast of Prague. The film was also shot in the small picturesque village of Ustek (located in the Ústecký Region) and the former Lenešice sugar refinery (scenes with dilapidated buildings during the war).

Little Women
The principal photography began in Boston, Massachusetts and the filming locations included 11 Massachusetts municipalities. Additionally, there were also a few sets which were built from scratch. For example, the March family’s home was a temporarily erected house on a property in Concord. Other filming locations include Fruitlands Museum, Crane Beach, William Hickling Prescott House, Emerson Colonial Theatre, Arnold Arboretum Fairmont Copley Plaza (19th-century Paris park), Gibson House Museum, Bradley estate, and Lyman estate.
Ford vs Ferrari
While the major portion of the film was shot in Georgia (Savannah and Atlanta) and California, there are several other locations which include: Louisiana, New Orleans, and Le Mans in France. As the film is set in 1967, it required many imitations such as Le Mans grandstands, pits, and garages were replicated at the Agua Dulce Airpark in Agua Dulce. The hangar area where the cars were developed was filmed at Ontario International Airport in Ontario.
