Winchester Mystery House

The Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California, is one of the most famous haunted houses in America. It was the former residence of Sarah Winchester, widow of the firearm tycoon William Wirt Winchester. She supposedly expanded the house’s sprawling, nonsensical architecture — which is so convoluted that a hidden room wasn’t found until 2016 — to silence the spirits of those killed by Winchester firearms.
