By engaging tourists with the natural beauty, the tour program aims to contribute to preventing ghost fishing (waterfowls dying by getting tangled in fishing lines) in order to pass on the beauty of nature to the next generation. Powerboat restrictions have been introduced at the Lake Shikotsu National Park, but we have obtained special permission for this special tour.

This tour offers a unique opportunity for tour participants to engage in cleanup activities by diving in spots not typically accessible to the public, with full support from the Lake Shikotsu Office of the Ministry of the Environment and the Lake Shikotsu Management Council. This project utilizes the latest Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to conduct mapping of trash and identify underwater locations where trash tend to be accumulated. The trash location data will be linked to Google Maps to continue cleanup activities for future generations. The tour starts with a morning gathering, where we will discuss diving spots. The tour includes one dive in the morning and another one in the afternoon at different diving spots. After completing the two dives, the participants will sort trash and input data into GIS. There will be a ceremony where participants will receive a certificate of appreciation issued by the Lake Shikotsu Management Council, followed by a commemorative photo session. Participants' names can also be listed on the GIS Google Map.
