You can experience a variety of authentic Japanese activities, and as an extra option, you can also try the dressing in multi-layered "Juunihitoe" kimono, the traditional attire of the Japanese imperial family. Enjoy the Instagram-worthy ambiance of the Heian period, dating back 1300 years, within meticulously reconstructed buildings that do not use any modern nails or fasteners. Finally, conclude the program with a visit to a shrine and a leisurely time with Ise tea and traditional Japanese sweets.
In front of the north exit of Saiku Station, there is a large traditional Japanese building with a prominent roof, making it easy to identify.

This activity ends back at the meeting point.
“Saiku” refers to the residential palace and office of the Saio, an unmarried female member of the imperial family appointed to serve the Ise Jingu shrine complex.
The experience location is "Nishiwaki-den", one of the three restored buildings of "Heian no Mori", a partial reproduction of the Saiku palace and a nationally designated historic site.
Among the games that Princess Saio enjoyedd during the Heian period were "Kai-awase" (matching patterns on shells), board game "Ban-sugoroku", which was similar to modern board games, and making "Uzuchi" (a talisman with five-colored strings that warded off evil spirits). Other games include "Giccho" where you hit a wooden ball with a tree branch, and "Kemari", a soccer-like game using a soft ball. You can also experience ink calligraphy on unglazed earthenware and donning a Heian period costume.
Afterwards, the program will include a visit to a spiritual shrine and a relaxing time with Ise tea and Japanese sweets.
