We are one of the most experienced providers of navigation courses in the UK.
Our qualified instructors have years of experience coaching all aspects of navigation, for all levels of ability, from those who have never looked at a map before to those who want to learn advanced techniques for remote areas.
You will learn from remote environment navigation experts who coach military and Search and Rescue personnel in the UK and around the World.
What's Included
- We can provide map OL17 Snowdonia in 1:25,000 scale and a compass of clients need to borrow them.
- Private transportation
- Clients need their own packed lunch and drinks for both days of the course.

Outside the main entrance to: Siabod Cafe Capel Capel LL24 0EL Conwy Wales We will spend a short while here making a plan for the first day, before a short drive to a suitable location for the day. You will follow in your own vehicle.

What To Expect
Navigation with map and compass is a basic foundation level skill that every hill and mountain lover should have. Having this essential knowledge enhances your personal development and enjoyment of the mountains and allows you to still enjoy your adventures even if the visibility and the weather are poor.
After this course you will have learnt how to plan a hiking route using a map, then follow the route with confidence and know within a few minutes if you have made a mistake and be able to replan your route with ease.
What will you learn?
Learn and practice how to pre plan a walk using a map and compass using marked paths/tracks and follow it, hopefully without getting lost!

Public Rights of Way
Contour Lines and their use
Use of a compass to set a map
Use of large hills/valleys/lakes to set a map
Use of a compass to identify direction of travel and features
Basic Hand-railing techniques
Identifying large and small features on a map and then find them in the surrounding area
Macro or large area navigation techniques
Judging distance on the ground and pacing techniques for measuring distance on the ground

- Not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries
- Not recommended for pregnant travelers
- Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health
- Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness

- For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time
- Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
- If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
- Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
