The best way to explore Wadi Rum is by walking & riding
Just like the Ancestors of the Bedouins, who live today in this area you will explore the beautiful nature of the desert.
Wadi Rum is called "Mars on earth" because the blood red sands and the unworldly sandstone mountains create an uncanny Mars-like landscape and environment, making you truly feel like you are stepping foot on another planet, though you are right here on Earth.
Wadi Rum is a Hollywood favorite for films set on the red planet. So far it has served as the backdrop for many Hollywood films like The Martian (2015), The Last Days on Mars (2013) and many other films.
Not just sweeping sand dunes and gargantuan rock mountains, a spectacular series of natural arches, towering cliffs, massive landslides, dramatic cavernous weathering forms and narrow gorges can also be viewed here. Wadi is the Arabic term traditionally referring the bed or valley of a river that is usually dry except in the rainy season.
We will meet you at the parking place | Rest House Wadi Rum, where you can arrive by Bus, rental car or taxi. You can park here and leave you car safely. We will pick you up by Jeep.
This activity ends back at the meeting point.

Jabal Burdah and its rock bridge are located in the southeast of the protected area. On the north ridge, stands the 35-meter high rock bridge. It is considered to be one of the highest rock bridges in the world. It is one of the most spectacular places in our desert. If you have (a sense of) vertigo, the best option is to marvel at this rock bridge from the valley floor. If you are reasonably fit, hiking and scrambling up the to the bridge is for you. It is one of the most rewarding hikes/scrambles in our desert. A spectacular Bedouin road takes you to the rock bridge in about 1,5 hours. On the way, you pass by a couple of great viewpoints. Jabal Burdah is home to several species of plants used for medicinal purposes. From the rock bridge itself, you can enjoy incredible views on the desert.

Visit our Sanddunes Wadi Rum desert is dotted with dunes. Both yellow and red dunes. The highest dune is in Wadi Um Ishrin. We prefer to visit the one near Khazali canyon for two reasons. Climbing this dune is easy, as you can climb via the rocks on the side. When on the top, you will have plenty of energy left to enjoy the pretty valley views and to run down the dune. The intense red of the dune and the deep blue of the sky above is a fascinating view. In this blog, we explore some more about dunes and we share our top 5 of most fabulous dunes. Why are there dunes in Wadi Rum desert? Dunes are a unique phenomenon of nature. You can find them in the desert and near beaches. Lots of loose sand, wind, an obstacle, and a dry climate are the elements needed for a mound of sand, a dune to form. In Wadi Rum, we have all the necessary components.

Um Fruth rock bridge The Um Fruth rock bridge is one of the most photographed places in Wadi Rum. The bridge is about 15 meters up from the desert floor. With directions and maybe some assistance from your tour guide, the steep climb is easy. Still, for people with some degree of vertigo or minor limitations, the scramble can be quite a challenge. The narrow bridge can be challenging too. But the beautiful views over the yellow mountains of Um Fruth make up for this big time. And if you decide not to climb the bridge, it is still well worth to visit it.
