Ever been interested in trying your hand at blowing glass? Join me in my flameworking studio and learn how to make your first piece of glass art with us!
Borosilicate glass blowing is a unique art that uses a table-mounted torch to melt and manipulate glass. While more niche than traditional glass blowing, this type of flameworking offers participants a unique, hands-on artistic experience. Each student will be equipped with their own torch and will make several glass pieces with support from Brahim.
Our studio is located on the NW corner of the ActivSpace building (across from the parking lot at the corner of SE Salmon and 9th).
This activity ends back at the meeting point.
All students will be taught basic glass blowing safety, skills, and will have the opportunity to create 2-3 pieces of glass art in a 2.5-3 hour beginner’s lesson. Choose from the following:
Standard Group Class (up to 6 participants per class): In this introductory class we make 2-3 pieces of glass art: a marble, wine bottle stopper or pendant, and a small blown ornament. This class may be shared with other individuals.
Students get to keep any glass they create, and gain knowledge and hands-on experience in a very unique field.
*Glass made during lesson will require kilning for durability, which takes a minimum of 4 hours. Most students choose to pick up the glass they made the next day (or at their earliest convenience).
