The oldest of the four bridges in Venice is the Ponte della Costituzione. It was built in 1884 and took 4 years to complete with a total cost of over 500,000 lira. Its construction was initiated by the Venetian government with an innovative system of floating pontoons. designed by the engineer Luigi Scaglia.The Ponte della Costituzione is not in a very good condition and was renovated only in 2004.
