Embark with us for an eco-responsible adventure in a sailboat without launching, while respecting the animal and the environment.
Set sail by sailboat for a unique adventure: observe humpback whales in their natural habitat. A marine biologist or naturalist guide on board will share with you his knowledge of cetaceans and their behavior and will answer all your questions.
You will have the assurance of a tour in a small group (6 passengers max) to guarantee you an authentic and unforgettable experience.
It is possible to encounter other species of marine mammals besides humpback whales such as pilot whales, spinner dolphins, narrow-beaked dolphins, sperm whales, flying fish, hunting seabirds.

Meeting point
The meeting point is at the small marina at the bottom of Opunohu Bay. It is located at PK17.5, approximately 2km after the Ta'ahiamanu public beach.

What To Expect
After a warm welcome at the marina, we will take you to the sailboat with our tender. The sailboat is approximately 200m from the pontoon. When you arrive on board we will offer you a drink. Before departure, you will be given a presentation of the boat, a safety briefing and a presentation of how the trip will take place, then we will weigh anchor towards the ocean, crossing the very wild Opunohu Bay. Once in the ocean, we can take out the sails depending on the wind conditions and we will go in search of whales.
We will sail the northern coasts of the island to spot and observe whales in their natural habitat. We may encounter several situations: individuals alone or in groups, with or without a calf, at rest, a singing male, amorous displays, males trying to seduce a female, etc.
Our naturalist guide will share with you his knowledge about cetaceans and their behavior and answer all your questions.
At the end of the tour, in the light of the sunset, we will return to Opunohu Bay towards the marina. At this time we will offer you a cocktail, a beer or a non-alcoholic drink.
