Your professional driver and guide will greet at a mutually convenient location. You will travel in a comfortable, 6 seat, air conditioned limousine. Your friendly guide will drive northward towards the Irish Border with Northern Ireland. The first stop is at the ancient Gap of the North at Faughart. This is also the location of the shrine of St Brigid, where the healing stones are found and where the iconic woven cross was first created. As Brigid’s father was a druid, this was a reknown place in the ancient ways. The Irish border is an anomaly, crossing fields, streams and lanes, Listen to the stories of the Troubles, smugglers and highwaymen. Irish history throughout the centuries is all around in this area of natural beauty, landscapes and views. The ancient volcano of the Ring of Gullion is part of the scenery. This is the land of legends. Overnight in this area or in Belfast.

Today, we visit the muliple award winning exhibition Titanic, exploring how the City of Belfast was developed and how shipbuilding became a huge industry in the age of steam. A tour of the city tells how the central disticts developed in the past and provides insights into the sectarian tensions that led to the Troubles. Part of the journey is travelling to the peace lines which separated and protected communities during times of tension. Later we will travel to the north Antrim coast and no visit to Northern Ireland is complete without a visit to the Giant’s Causeway. In the immediate area is the oldest licensed distillery in Ireland at Bushmills. Overnight stay locally or in Derry.

The Walls of the City Derry are the oldest and most complete city walls found in Ireland. A walking tour gives a great insight into this wonderful place whose origins date back to the 6th century. The Grianán of Áileach is an ancient stone hillfort with views over Derry, Inishowen, Lough Swilly, Lough Foyle and the Finn Valley. The Inishowen Peninsula is the most northerly part of Ireland and is in the Republic. (Therefore it is is the South…Irish humour.) Malin Head is the northern point on the island of Ireland. Film location for Star Wars. Doagh Famine Village is one of the most unique and popular visitor attractions, telling a story of community living, surviving and evolving throughout the past few hundred years. Travel into west Donegal and the energetic can climb the iconic Errigal mountain. Onwards through the gaeltacht areas along the ocean to Slieve League and the highest seacliffs in Europe. The option is for those groups who choose not to walk up Errigal, may be interested in an evening boat trip to enjoy stories of the area from the boat captains or do a little mackerel fishing or maybe encounter some local dolphins. Boa Island on Lower Lough Erne has a rural community graveyard with some of the most mysterious and beautiful carved figures found anywhere. Enniskillen is the County town of Fermanagh and the boarding point for a boat tour to Devinish Island whose Round Tower is the only one in Ireland that you can climb up inside to appreciate the job of the monastery watchman when Ireland was known as the land of saints and scholars. Afterwards it will be time to turn south again towards Dublin for next stage of your journey.
