Moldovita Monastery
Departure from Cluj at 8:30 am, heading for north-eastern Romania. Lunch on the way, in Borgo Pass. Bram Stoker imagined Count Dracula’s castle might be somewhere around here… Visit the painted monastery of Moldovita, famous for it’s Siege of Constantinople fresco scene. Ancient Hutsul tradition, the decoration of the Easter egg using wax and natural colors is something you must not miss. That’s why you’ll meet an artisan willing to demonstrate her skill.

Sucevita Monastery
Continue your journey with the visit of the most complete and best preserved of the painted monasteries: Sucevita (UNESCO heritage). If you’re looking for spiritual perfection, you may find inspiration here, observing the Ladder of Virtues fresco scene. Car transfers: approx. 5h30min; ~300 km / 186 mi (dinner included, breakfast & lunch not included)

After breakfast, transfer to a farmers market. Still very much alive, the local markets are a great chance for you to meet and interact with the people of Bucovina.

Manastirea Voronet
After lunch in a restaurant, continue with Voronet painted monastery, the most famous of all eight painted monasteries included in UNESCO heritage. Get back to Cluj in late afternoon. End of the tour. Car transfers: approx. 6h00min; ~330 km / 205 mi (breakfast included, lunch & dinner not included)

- A dress code is required to enter the monasteries. No shorts or sleeveless tops allowed. Knees and shoulders MUST be covered for both men and women. You may risk refused entry if you fail to comply with these dress requirements. Skirts and scarfs are usually offered at the entrance though.
