What To Expect
Oishi Park

Lavender is beautiful in early summer! A spectacular spot that represents Lake Kawaguchi A park facing the shores of Lake Kawaguchi in the Oishi district on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi. It is popular as a spectacular spot where you can see Mt. Fuji over the flower fields. More than 90 kinds of flowers bloom in the park throughout the year, including pink moss phlox in spring, about 20,000 lavender in early summer, and red-leafed kochia in autumn. The park is especially famous for its lavender, and together with Yagisaki Park on the south shore, it is the main venue for the Kawaguchiko Herb Festival, which is held every year from mid-June to mid-July. The best time to see the lavender is usually from late June to early July. At the Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center in the park, you can enjoy blueberry soft serve ice cream made with local blueberries.

Saiko Iyashi no Sato Nemba

20 thatched roof houses are lined up on a viewing spot overlooking Mt. Fuji. It is a place where visitors can feel at peace. This tourist facility is a restored thatched roof village on the shores of Lake Saiko, overlooking Mt. Fuji and the Aokigahara Jukai forest. The surrounding area was once known as the most beautiful thatched roof village in Japan, and boasts a landscape that could be described as the original Japanese scenery. It sustained severe damage from a typhoon disaster in 1966, but after more than 40 years, 20 thatched roof houses have been restored. There are three restaurants and five shops where you can experience crafting such as making hanging dolls and kaleidoscopes. There are also many other ways to enjoy the area, such as an old-fashioned waterwheel, a "children's square" where you can freely play with old toys, a museum, and an exhibition of works by craft artists. Admission fee: Adults 350 yen / Children 200 yen

Mt. Fuji 5th Station

It's not just about climbing! You can also enjoy the spectacular views by taking a leisurely stroll! It is the end of the Fuji Subaru Line, and can be reached by car in about an hour from the national highway. The parking lot at Mt. Fuji's 5th Station is a tourist spot, and many shops and restaurants are open from mid-April to mid-December. For example, many families eat the "Original Kokemomo Soft Serve" sold at the "Komitake Shop," buy souvenirs, and eat at restaurants while looking at the view. Even if you don't do a full-scale climb of Mt. Fuji, there is a promenade called "Ochu-michi" at the 5th Station that has few ups and downs, so you can easily explore Mt. Fuji. After walking for about an hour, you will reach a spectacular spot called "Oniwa." There is also a shrine behind the red torii gate next to the shop at the 5th Station rotary, and from the observation deck there you can see Lake Yamanaka and other sights below, so it might be worth visiting once. One thing to be careful of is the weather. You may need to wear a jacket even in summer.

Oshino Hakkai

A village of famous water with a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji and unspoiled Japanese scenery. A collective name for eight spring-fed ponds whose source is the underground water of Mt. Fuji. It is a natural monument and one of the assets that make up the World Heritage site "Mt. Fuji." It is called "Hakkai" even though it is a pond, because it is so sacred that it became "sea" rather than "pond." The water is so clear that you can see the lava underground, and the mysterious color is so beautiful that you will be drawn in.
