You have probably heard of great North American rivers like the Mississippi or the Snake River, but have you ever wondered where they come from? Yellowstone National Park is a place of many headwaters that flow into these grand bodies of water. West Yellowstone sits at the top of the Continental Divide, which splits water into two directions. All water to the east of the divide will eventually flow into the Gulf of Mexico, while all water to the west of the divide will eventually flow into the Pacific Ocean.
In the air, you will get to experience a bird's-eye perspective of the waterways that travel out of Yellowstone National Park and see exactly how rivers play such a critical role in shaping the land around us. On this tour, you will not only see how water shapes the landscape but also learn about the importance these waters played in shaping America's history. Starting on either side of the divide, you will fly along the rivers, watching them carve out the terrain.
Look for our sign on your right as you enter the airport. If you reach the main terminal building you have gone too far. Park in front of the sign, your pilot will come meet you at your vehicle.
This activity ends back at the meeting point.
Your pilot will take you on an exciting flight soaring over West Yellowstone and our section of the Greater Yellowstone Area.
