This challenging 10 day tour takes you up 4 different volcanoes in Guatemala’s impressive volcano range. One hike takes you up an active volcano where you can see lava flowing, and you can even roast your own marshmallow! The second includes an overnight stay on a volcano, to see eruptions from adjacent volcano Fuego light up the sky at night, and to see an impressive sunrise from the summit the next morning. Thirdly, you’ll climb Santa Maria, which is said to have the best views in all of Guatemala. The last volcano is the mighty Tajumulco, the highest point of Central America! Time for your first volcano! Today at 6:00am you will be picked up from your hotel and you will do a collective hike to the active Pacaya volcano!

Time for some adrenaline; you will hike the Acatenango volcano. This is the volcano right next to the active Fuego volcano, outside of Antigua. The hike to Acatenango is of a difficult level, it´s an overnight hike. So you take camping equipment and food up the volcano, in your backpack. Departure is at 7:00am from Antigua, and after a ride in the vehicle you start the hike. At the end of the afternoon you arrive at basecamp, where the guide will light a campfire for the cold. From here you can perfectly see the eruptions from the Fuego volcano (if you´re lucky)! For the ones seeking an additional adrenaline thrill, you can do an extra hike up the active Fuego volcano to have even better views and to be closer to the eruptions. The next morning very early you hike to the summit of the Acatenango, to watch the sunrise, with a 360 degrees panoramic view! After that, you collect your belongings, and you arrive back in Antigua around 2:00pm.

Today at 3:00pm, you will be picked up from your hotel and you will travel in a collective shuttle to the second biggest city of Guatemala, Quetzaltenango (3-4 hours). Here you will spend the following days to hike up some more volcanoes.

Today at 6:00am, you will be picked up for a collective hike to the volcano that looks out over Quetzaltenango, the Santa Maria. This challenging hike will reward you with views of 8 volcanoes at the top if the weather allows it!

Tajumulco is the highest volcano in Guatemala and Central America. There are two peaks, 4220 and 4100 meters. The volcano is not active, and you will climb this giant in 2 days! You start with a drive to the starting point, in San Marcos, close to the Mexican border. The climb starts at 10:30, through corn fields, but also over rocky paths and wooded areas. Along the way you will stop for lunch and the camp will be reached and prepared around 4:30 PM. If the weather is good, you can climb the last part to the top for the sunset. Dinner is prepared, and then it's time to wrap up warm and go to sleep early. On day two you start early to watch the sunrise. From the top you have a breathtaking view of the entire volcano chain of Guatemala. After breakfast the camp is packed again and it is time for the return journey. You will arrive in Quetzaltenango around lunchtime.
