Ahu Nau Nau

Platform on the beach of Hanga Rau o te Ariki (Anakena) that has 7 moai on its surface, revealing the greatness of the Rapa Nui culture. We will also be able to see Ahu Ature Huki, restored by the Rapa Nui community in the 1950s.

Ahu Tahai

This archaeological site has three impressive ceremonial platforms: Ko Te Riku, Tahai and Vai Uri. This place, key in contemporary ceremonies, is one of the oldest inhabited areas. Adding to its historical importance, Tahai houses the tomb of William Mulloy, an American archaeologist who made important contributions. Tahai stands out for its fascinating view, harmonious environment, and the relaxing sound of the sea that create the perfect setting for those who want to take photographs of an impressive landscape.

Orongo

In this ceremonial village we can explore unique archaeological structures, which stand out for their flagstone houses, with a unique style throughout the island, and their petroglyphs, which reveal the cultural connection of the island with the cult of the birdman. This site has a strategic location on the top of the Rano Kau volcano and offers panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and its motu (islets), the site where the “Hopu Manu” (protagonist of the “Taŋata Manu” competition) swam. Discover the fascinating history of Oroŋo and the cultural importance that surrounds it.

Ahu Te Pito Kura

It houses the outstanding Moai Paro, the largest successfully transferred from the Rano Raraku quarry to its ahu. Although it lay demolished almost two centuries ago, this moai is a milestone in the history of statues, with a height of 10 meters and an estimated weight of more than 80 tons. The gigantic pukao, almost 2 meters high and weighing about 10 tons, located in front of the moai, also stands out as one of the largest headdresses from Puna Pau. According to stories from sailors, this was one of the last Ahu with its moai erected.

Puna Pau

Puna Pau is home to a red slag quarry, called Hani-Hani, which was crucial to the Rapa Nui. This soft and easy-to-carve material was used to create small statues, and among other things: the famous Pukao that crowned some Moai.

Ahu Vinapu

It is a ceremonial complex that has a unique platform built with large basalt slabs, which suggests a possible connection with the Inca empire. It includes two ceremonial platforms, Ahu Tahira and Ahu Vinapū. Although some structures were damaged during tribal conflicts in the 18th century, the site preserves ruins of a third, older ahu.

Ahu Vaihu

Showing the consequences of the statues being torn down due to conflicts between clans, this site offers a fascinating insight into the history of Rapa Nui. This site also has the Puku Manu Mea interpretation center, which allows visitors to learn what the domestic settlements were like, being able to enter and touch the buildings.
