Sugarloaf Mountain

The eastern side of Sugarloaf referred to as the Costão, allows for an enchanting hike up to the top of the mountain, providing you with spectacular views of the sea, forest, and mountain, as well as the lovely city of Niterói, all in one place. The trail starts at the end of the paved, shaded Cláudio Coutinho path in Urca. The hike is mostly on rock slab, with the last section going through closed vegetation. 3/4 of the way up there there is a short, 15-meter section that must be climbed using climbing equipment (a rope and a harness). While the hike and the short climb can be done by people of all ages, it must be led by an experienced climber. The journey lasts 5 hours on average, with stops for photos and rest. After this adventure, we will meet up later on for live music and caipirinhas.

Praia Vermelha

Praia Vermelha, named after its reddish sands, is a beach with calm waters and a small stretch of sand. Its surroundings boast the iconic Sugarloaf Mountain, making it a well-known spot. Another advantage is the safety of the area, as it is located within a military environment.

Claudio Coutinho Trail

The Cláudio Coutinho Trail, also known as Bem-te-Vi Path and Costão Road, is located at Praia Vermelha in the Urca neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is named in honor of Cláudio Coutinho, a former coach of the Brazilian National Football Team and a graduate of the Army Physical Education School. It is part of the Natural Monument of Pão de Açúcar and Urca Hills, created by Municipal Decree No. 26.578 on June 1, 2006. Inaugurated by the Brazilian Army in the late 1980s, the trail stretches for 1.25 km, with distance markers every 50 meters. It surrounds the Morro da Urca, with access starting from Praia Vermelha. Through some trails from this path, it is possible to access the Pão de Açúcar (Sugarloaf Mountain).

Morro da Urca

The Morro da Urca is an attraction that holds one of the most famous trails in Rio de Janeiro. Caminhada Trilha Dois Irmaos

This day will be introduced by relatively easy hiking to “Dois Irmãos” mountain. This trail starts with a motorcycle-riding up to the “Favela do Vidigal”, where the 45 mins hiking starts. Once at the top, you will be rewarded with an astonishing view of the entire city, also overlooking the iconic ” Favela da Rocinha” just down below. At the end of the hiking, we will have lunch at one of the local restaurants and go to Vidigal beach for a nice cool off. After all that we will finish our day watching the sunset at arpoador in Ipanema beach.

Vidigal

Vidigal is a neighborhood located in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Its favela, known as Morro do Vidigal, gave rise to the Vidigal neighborhood. Despite being a poor community, like all favelas, Vidigal is situated between some of Rio's most affluent neighborhoods, such as Leblon and São Conrado, overlooking the Morro Dois Irmãos. It is a haven for various animals and plants of the Atlantic Forest. Considered by many as a postcard view of Rio, it has gained fame for being an excellent spot to admire the sea. From a romantic perspective, some people often claim that the sea view from Vidigal is the most beautiful in Rio de Janeiro.

Pedra do Arpoador

Arpoador is a beach and rocky formation, both located in the neighborhood of Ipanema, in the municipality of Rio de Janeiro, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It lies between the beaches of Diabo and Ipanema. Arpoador has limited space, being a small beach with approximately 500 meters in length. The Arpoador Beach is known as the surfer's beach since it has many big waves, ideal for practicing this sport. In the Arpoador region, you can find the Garota de Ipanema Park, named after the famous song by Vinícius de Moraes and Tom Jobim. Besides being a recreational area, the park also serves as a stage for performances by renowned artists.

Escadaria Selaron

The Selarón Steps is an architectural masterpiece located between the neighborhoods of Santa Teresa and Lapa in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was decorated by the Chilean artist who had been living in Brazil for a long time, Jorge Selarón, who declared it as a "tribute to the Brazilian people." The Selarón Steps, also known as the Santa Teresa Convent Steps and officially named Rua Manuel Carneiro, is situated between the Santa Teresa and Lapa neighborhoods in Rio de Janeiro. It's just a 5-minute walk to the Arcos da Lapa. The staircase has two hundred and fifteen steps, measuring 125 meters in length, and is covered with over two thousand tiles collected from more than sixty countries around the world. After "completing" one part of the steps, Selarón started working on the other part, constantly changing the tiles, turning it into an ever-evolving piece of art. Selarón considered the work as "never complete" and always stated.

In addition to artist studios, Santa Teresa is home to the Chácara do Céu Museum, showcasing European and Brazilian art, and the evocative Ruins Park, with an art gallery built around the remains of a mansion.

Carioca Aqueduct

The Arcs of Lapa are situated in the Lapa region, in the Lapa neighborhood, in the Central Zone of the municipality of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Considered the largest architectural undertaking in Brazil during the colonial period, it is now one of the city's postcard views, the most emblematic symbol of old Rio de Janeiro preserved in the bohemian Lapa region. Inaugurated in 1750, the waters sprang forth at the feet of the Convent of Santo Antônio, in a marble fountain, through 16 bronze spouts. Later, this water was extended through Cano Street (now Seven of September Street), all the way to the Palace Square (now XV November Square), where ships came to supply themselves.

Maua Square

Little Africa is a region in the Port Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The name, Little Africa, originated from the times of slavery. This area was one of the largest ports that received slave ships from Africa. This port is also known as Valongo Wharf, and it was rediscovered in 2011 when renovations for the Olympics began. Today, the site is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the Port Zone of Rio de Janeiro, near Praça Mauá, there is a huge mural called "Ethnicities." It is the world's largest graffiti created by a single person! This person is Eduardo Kobra from São Paulo. T he graffiti was a project for the Olympics, and the painting represents five indigenous people from different continents. The artwork is incredibly detailed and colorful! And personally, Kobra was very quick to finish the project! He took only 6 weeks to paint a 30m x 10m panel!

Corcovado - Christ the Redeemer

The trail begins at Parque Lage, originally from an old sugar mill, the park is part of the city's historical memory. In 1957, it was listed as historical and cultural heritage of the city of Rio de Janeiro by the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN). "Morro do Corcovado" offers a breathtaking 704-meter-high viewpoint of Rio de Janeiro, with the iconic Christ the Redeemer. The 2.5-hour Christ the Redeemer Trail through the Atlantic Forest showcases playful monkeys and stunning landscapes. The challenging second segment rewards with captivating views, leading to the awe-inspiring Cristo Redentor. Upon our return journey, we'll take a leisurely 40-minute walk down to Mirante Dona Marta for pictures and Sunset before arranging transportation back to our accommodation. To add to the excitement, we plan to attend a lively samba party at the renowned Lapa Square, where we'll savor some delightful caipirinhas.

Parque Lage

Henrique Lage Park (or simply Parque Lage) is a public park in the city of Rio de Janeiro, located at the foot of the Corcovado hill, on Jardim Botânico Street. It covers an area of over 52 hectares and was listed as a historical and cultural heritage of the city of Rio de Janeiro by the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN) on June 14, 1957. The mansion within the park has been home to the Institute of Fine Arts since 1966, which later gave rise to the School of Visual Arts in 1974. Since 2004, Parque Lage has been part of the Tijuca National Park, under the administration of the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation, with the mansion being under the care of the said school.

From its 360m height, the Dona Marta Lookout offers one of the most incredible views of the city, earning its place as one of the most visited tourist spots in Rio de Janeiro. From there, you can see the Sugarloaf Mountain, the Christ the Redeemer statue, the Maracanã Stadium, the Guanabara Bay, and the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon. The Dona Marta Lookout is situated above the Santa Marta Favela, which gained worldwide fame for being the location of the music video "They Don't Care About Us" by Michael Jackson.

"Pedra da Gávea" is the world's largest sea-facing rock, named for its resemblance to the observation basket, "gávea," on Portuguese caravels. Its 842m height offers a stunning view of Rio's coastline, from the South Zone to the West Zone, including the Tijuca Forest mountains. " Pico da Tijuca " Despite being the highest peak in Tijuca National Park, the trail is beginner-friendly, with minimal challenges and shaded sections. The final 5 minutes near the summit may provide a thrill as you encounter a 117-step staircase carved into the rock, protected by chains on both sides. From the summit of Pico da Tijuca, you'll witness an incredible panoramic view of the city. Looking north, the entire northern zone, suburbs, "Baixada Fluminense," and "Maciço do Mendanha" come into view. On exceptionally clear days, you might even glimpse the faint silhouette of the "Serra dos Órgãos" mountain range in the distance. To end our time together finding a place to dance seems like the best idea.
