Upon reaching Gangotri, you'll find yourself already at an elevation of 3,415 meters above sea level. Adjusting to such high altitudes can be challenging due to the decreased oxygen levels and air pressure, potentially leading to altitude-related illnesses like AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). To mitigate the risks of altitude sickness, we'll spend the second day acclimatizing in Gangotri. Our day will commence with a visit to the Ganga Maiya Temple, where we'll delve into its ancient cultural significance, evident in its architecture and sculptures. We'll also explore nearby attractions such as Surya Kunda, Pandava Gufa, and Ganga Ghats. Most importantly, we'll prioritize rest to conserve energy for the rest of the trek. Ample sleep, a nutritious diet, and staying hydrated are crucial for effective acclimatization.

On the fourth day of our trek, we'll trek towards Tapovan from Bhojbasa, covering a distance of approximately 8 kilometers. Before reaching our destination, we'll need to cross the Bhagirathi River via a trolley, which may take 1-2 hours for the entire group. As we journey, the landscape transitions from lush pasturelands, where Blue Sheep herds graze, to barren and rocky terrain. It's essential to have lunch along the way to maintain energy levels, as water sources may be scarce. Carrying at least 2 liters of water is advisable. During the trek, we'll encounter Akash Ganga flowing from Tapovan, merging with the Bhagirathi at Gaumukh. Tapovan offers breathtaking views of Gangotri Glacier, Bhagirathi Peaks, and Aakash Ganga, as well as Mount Shivling and Meru Peak. Tapovan is renowned for astrophotography and stargazing, offering a clear view of the Milky Way galaxy at night. Remember to dress warmly and wear gloves to ward off the chill.
