*Yongho Starlight Park ~ Igidae Coastal Trail ~ Oryukdo Skywalk On September 12, 2012, construction began at Seungdumal, a boundary point between the East Sea and the South Sea. It opened on October 18, 2013, as the "Oryukdo Skywalk," symbolizing "walking in the sky." The Skywalk consists of a 15-meter glass bridge with 24 glass panels arranged in a horseshoe shape, installed on a steel beam over a 35-meter coastal cliff. The floor glass is specially designed with 12mm thick tempered glass reinforced with a special film, totaling 55.49mm in thickness, ensuring high load-bearing capacity and safety. Looking down through the transparent floor glass, the sight of waves crashing against the cliffs can be dizzying. *Boarding the Orykdo Cruise Boat: Close-up view of the islands for 20~30 mins Oryukdo consists of six rocky islets rising from the turbulent waves of Yongho-dong Sea: Bangpaeseom, Sorseom, Suriseom, Songgotseom, Gulseom, and Deungdaeseom. It was once a small peninsula connected to the mainland until about 120,000 years ago, when erosion from relentless waves separated it from the mainland over time. This geological process is evidenced by the similarity in geological composition between the mainland at Seungdumal and Bangpaeseom and Sorseom. The name "Oryukdo" originates from the Dongnae Buyeoji Sanchonjo, compiled in 1740, which states that Oryukdo is located east of Jeolyeongdo. The islets stand in a row resembling peaks and ridges, appearing as six peaks when viewed from the east and five peaks when viewed from the west, which led to the naming of "Oryukdo" ("oryuk" meaning six and "do" meaning island).
