Overview
This will be a beautiful and safe bike ride to see the massive and ancient "El Tule" tree, which is famous for being the widest tree in the world.
The road we'll take is mainly used by locals so you'll get to see more about authentic Oaxaca and the outskirts of the city.
El Tule tree is located inside a gated churchyard in the picturesque town of Santa Maria del Tule. It is the widest tree in the world. It's 40 meters in height, 58 meters in circumference, and about 2,000 years old.
The Baroque-style church is called Templo de Santa María de la Asunción and dates from the 18th century.

What To Expect
Oaxaca
We'll meet in downtown Oaxaca. Then, once we are geared up with helmets and our bikes, we´ll begin our journey to El Arbol del Tule (45 min. bicycle ride from downtown approx. [10 km or 6 miles one way]). We'll ride on a nice bike lane covered with tree shades for the most part. It's mostly flat. During our ride, you'll get to see the outskirts of the city, beautiful hills, and a few crop fields.

Tule Tree
Once we arrive to Santa Maria del Tule, we'll walk around town and go to see El Tule tree, the beautiful lush gardens and learn about the history of the town.

Then, we'll go to the handicrafts market and the food market where we'll spend some time checking out the market shops, going to the restroom, and getting something to eat and drink.

Finally, we'll start our ride back to Oaxaca. Other things to note: Do not forget your backpack to carry your belongings. Food is not included.
