Overview
The cetacean excursion is a unique adventure of its kind! We suggest you board our boat in a small group for an excursion to observe cetaceans in their natural environment.
The observation area is located off the coast of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, 45 minutes of navigation. An oceanic fault called Gouf de Capbreton is the meeting place for many species of cetaceans, fish and birds.
We are fortunate to be able to come across more than fifteen species of cetaceans in the Basque Country, including dolphins, whales and porpoises.
Observing them in their natural environment is a privileged experience.

Meeting point
Meet at the 3rd pontoon (Ponton A) of the Quai de l'Infante, (Same pontoon as the Maritime shuttle) at the port of Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Come 10 minutes before the departure of the outing.

What To Expect
You will embark on a cetacean observation excursion off the coast of Saint-Jean-de-Luz.
The meeting is at 8 a.m. at the pontoon, short briefing, we board, and for this boat trip, we are going to head offshore, towards the Gouf de Capbreton.
The Gouf is an oceanic fault. Only a few dozen meters deep in front of Capbreton, it descends into the abyss to a depth of more than 4000 meters. This canyon is a very important place of biodiversity. The entire food chain, from plankton, to fish, to cetaceans of which there are more than fifteen species on the Gouf.
It takes around 45 minutes of navigation to get to the Gouf de Capbreton observation area.
On site it is important to be attentive to spot cetaceans.
We can encounter small groups of a few individuals up to groups of several hundred dolphins.
For the lucky ones, you may also come across the path of a whale.
In all cases their approach will be in such a way as to respect their peace and quiet as much as possible.
Return between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to the port of Saint-Jean-de-Luz.
