Ollantaytambo

Pick up from your hotel around 5:30 am to 6:00 am. Make sure you bring your original passport and ISIC card if you booked as a student. We will go to our first point we will stop in Ollantaytambo to use the bathrooms and enjoy breakfast

We will continue heading to Piscacucho, km 82 starting point for our walk where we will meet with our team made up of our cook and porters. Passports in hand, we passed through the first checkpoint on the Inca Trail and began our hike with a gentle climb.

40 Minutes • Admission Ticket Included

We have three hours on relatively flat terrain while we follow the course of the river, rewarded with magnificent views of the snow-capped La Verónica (5,750 m). We will have lunch and rest in Miskay.

50 Minutes • Admission Ticket Included

We will continue until we reach the Inca town of Llactapata and we will appreciate the impressive agricultural terraces of this complex. The Inca Trail continues along the left bank of the Cusichaca River to the town of Huayllabamba where we will camp and have dinner.

Huayllabamba - Warmiwañuska (Dead Woman's Pass) - Pacaymayu

We woke up at 6:00 am, with hot coca tea brought to their tents, in order to prepare for today's hike. After breakfast, we leave the camp at 07:00 hrs. The uphill walk through Llulluchapampa where we can see several species of birds (hopefully you can see hummingbirds, falcons or some black-breasted eagles).

From here the trail passes through a beautiful cloud forest filled with Qeuña trees before entering the Puna, an area characterized by treeless grasslands only found at this altitude across the Andes. Walk at your own pace, to catch your breath or to stretch a muscle. The last hard climb takes us right to the highest pass on the Inca trail in Warmiwañuska. We will have unique and spectacular views of the Andes, around snow-covered peaks, we will continue our hike crossing the slopes on the left side of the valley towards our camp in Pacaymayu (3600 meters above sea level)

After a comforting breakfast, we will begin a steady climb towards the second highest pass at Runkuraqay,

Sayacmarca

The name Sayacmarca means "inaccessible city", the only Inca road, now a monumental structure of granite stones, continues through changing layers of cloud forests filled with rare orchids, hanging mosses, bromeliads and ferns. After the Inca tunnel, a gentle climb will take you to the third pass at (3700 meters above sea level), offering incredible views of several snow-capped peaks, including Salkantay.

The ruins of Phuyupatamarca. A brief explanation of the mysteries of Inca architecture, we will continue visiting the impressive agricultural site of Intipata before arriving at our last point where we will have our camp.

Winay Wayna

Wiñayhuayna, is the last official camp before Machu Picchu, this is the point where we say goodbye to our companions who are the cooks and the porters since the next day we continue our journey towards Machu Picchu.

Wiñaywayna - Intipunku - Machu Picchu

Winay Wayna

We will get up very early around 4:00 am to arrive at the Inti Punku (the Gate of the Sun) from where we will see Machu Picchu with the first rays of the sun. This will be a 1-2 hour hike, with significant upward stretches in the last half. We will be walking in the dark, so a flashlight would be highly recommended. The trail is clearly marked and takes approximately 1½ hours. The trail hugs the side of a mountain and drops into cloud forest before reaching a nearly vertical flight of 50 steps that leads to the final pass.

Inti Punku. A final short walk will take us to the entrance and to the heart of Machu Picchu itself, where we will learn the history of how it was built.

30 Minutes • Admission Ticket Included

Machu Picchu

Once we arrive at Machupicchu we will have our guided tour with an approximate duration of 2 hours to 2:30 hours and some more exploring on our own. The bus ticket from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes is included, as it leaves every 15 minutes and will be available for you to descend towards Aguas Calientes.
