Madurai is the oldest city in South India and a place of great historical importance. Madurai has been a flourishing market town since the 2nd century BC, the center of power for many dynasties and a seat of divinity. During your tour you’ll visit the Meenakshi Amman temple dedicated to goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareswarar, one of the most famous sights in Madurai.. The temple is said to be 1500 years old. It is located in the center of the city, and the streets of the old city were laid around it.

Starting with the East Tower of the temple, you will explore many storeyed “gopurams” – ornate statue-adorned towers, that are a typical feature of the temples in the state.
