It's the 30th anniversary of Hocus Pocus, the movie we all loved as kids (and still as adults) where Allison, Max, Dani and Binx the talking cat need to save the town from the evil Sanderson sisters. Relive the drama as we show you the locations where this movie was shot as well as tell you behind-the-scenes anecdotes.
We'll also tell you about Hocus Pocus 2 (not shot in Salem). However, Disney chose our guide to be in the movie as a Tour Guide so you will get inside information about the sequel that you can't get anywhere else.
In addition, you will learn other ways how Salem has worked its way into Hollywood. We've had over 100 TV shows, movies, documentaries and reality shows shot in Salem.. The first movie filmed here was a silent movie in the late 19th century. And there are more coming every year. Some are about our witch hysteria and ghosts, but many have nothing to do with our notorious past. It's not just a bunch of Hocus Pocus!

What To Expect
Salem Historical Tours & Haunted Footsteps Ghost Tour
Check in at the Salem Historical Tours office, located at 8 Central Street, 15-20 minutes prior to the departure time at 1pm. You can check in anytime that day before your tour to receive your tickets. Then, meet your knowledgeable and entertaining guide, who will walk you through Salem to the fascinating locations used on the big and small screens. Listen as your guide regales you with the entertaining stories of the TV shows and movies that were filmed in our infamous town. Learn about the actors who were here and where some of them stayed. You will see where the movie sets were located and get inside information.Then when you watch these movies again, you’ll recognize those locations. Take a walk through movie magic on this 1-hour tour!

- Our public walking tours can pose challenges for participants with mobility and accessibility concerns. Tours are 90 minutes long and about one mile in length. Each participant must be able to complete the one-mile tour within 90 minutes, providing for frequent stops to view sites and for information from the tour guide. As Salem is a historical city, there are narrow and uneven sidewalks, bricks, cobblestones, and stairs. During events and festivals (and particularly October), with crowds and street vendors, the streets can become difficult to navigate.
