Overview
The Izta Popo National Park has 2 volcanoes in the same place. We have designed hiking routes so you can enjoy the incredible views of the dormant volcano Iztaccíhuatl and the active volcano Popocatépetl. Our certified guide will explain the flora and fauna of the place. Live and breathe pure air at about 3,600 meters above sea level and 4,300 meters above sea level. It is an excellent place to share a wonderful experience alone, with friends or family. The tour includes round-trip transportation.
Choose between:
Level 1. The walk begins at about 3,600 meters above sea level and ends at 3,980 meters above sea level. The trail is marked sandy. The total is 8-9km of which 4.5 km are moderate uphill and the rest is downhill.
Level 2. The total is 14km of which 4km are uphill and the rest downhill with a few meters of moderate ascent. The trail is marked, mostly sandy with an outward view of the Izta and a return view of the Popo.
Level 3. It is a 7km walk at an altitude of between 3,990 and 4,500 meters above sea level where there will be sand and stone.

What To Expect
During the walk you will learn from our certified guide about this beautiful ecosystem of the Izta Popo National Park, which has 2 volcanoes in the same place. The inactive volcano Iztaccíhuatl and the inactive Popocatépetl, we will walk towards the inactive one. The tour is designed so that during the hiking trip you can see the beauty of both volcanoes, breathe the pure air and the smell of the pine trees. The tour includes round-trip transportation. When booking you can choose between different levels of difficulty with different routes:
*Level 1. This level is ideal for beginners. We will walk approximately 4 km towards Iztaccíhuatl and another 4km towards Popocatepetl, our goal is to reach a viewpoint and enjoy the views. Height: 3,600-3980 meters above sea level. Time: 3 to 4 hours.
*Level 2. The trail is mainly sandy, a total of 13-14 km where we will pass a small waterfall and two streams. Half the way you will see the Izta and the other half the Popo. Height: 3,600-3960 meters above sea level. Time: 5 hr
*Level 3. We will walk on the Izta volcano at 4,000 meters above sea level in La Joya, it is sandy and with loose stones. Mainly uphill. Height: 3,990-4,500. Time: 5 to 6 hours
