The workshop will be held in a traditional 100-year-old Japanese house with an eastern interior. During the workshop, the travelers will learn about the brief history of Kakejiku, the parts of a Kakejiku and the differences that can be seen with other Kakejikus. The Kakejikus to be shown in the workshop will be of good quality and the travelers will have the opportunity to see it up-close and touch it which is quite a rare experience even for Japanese. There will also be a short break where travelers can enjoy some matcha and Japanese snacks. After the workshop, they can look around at some Kakejikus available for purchase.
It's the old traditional Japanese house in front of Hannan Elementary school.

This activity ends back at the meeting point.
First, the teacher will provide a brief history of hanging scrolls (kakejiku) and explain how they differ from Western art. Then, he will describe and show the different parts of a hanging scroll, passing it around to let the travelers touch it. He will also explain the different materials that the parts of Kakejiku can be made from.
We will then take break to enjoy matcha and sweets.
In the second half, you will have the opportunity to touch and closely examine hanging scrolls. This is a rare oppotunity
to appreciate high-quality hanging scrolls that have been authenticated up close. After this lecture, hopefully you'll be eager to visit an art museum right away.
