Kanazawa City, only less than 3-hour bullet train ride from Tokyo, is a treasure trove of history and tradition, deeply rooted in samurai culture. Known for its well-preserved Edo-period districts, the city offers a captivating glimpse into Japan's feudal past.
Operated by a reputable local company with over 50 years of history, this authentic private workshop features a formally-trained Kyudo master as a member of the Ishikawa Kyudo Federation. The master instructor will guide you through the fundamentals of form, technique, and philosophy while an English-speaking interpreter will accompany you throughout this experience and ensure seamless communications.
After the workshop is concluded, make sure you leave some time to take a stroll at the Kenrokuen Garden, one of Japan's 3 Most Beautiful Gardens. Spanning over 25 acres, this stunning landscape was developed over centuries, beginning in the 17th century, by the Maeda clan.

Take a taxi or a bus (#3 or #6) to Kenrokuen Garden. Once you enter the garden, follow the paths towards the southeast exit. The dojo, 石川県立武道館分館兼六園弓道場 (Kenrokuen Kyudojo), is located near the southeast edge of Kenrokuen Garden.

What To Expect
Join us for this private workshop to experience authentic Kyudo archery and immerse yourself in this fascinating form of Japanese martial arts. Set in the historic city of Kanazawa, renowned for its deep roots in samurai culture, this workshop offers a unique journey into the ancient art of Kyudo, or "The Way of the Bow."
Begin your journey by changing into a hakama, the traditional attire worn during Kyudo practice. Once you learn the basics of Kyudo, it's time for you to practice the essential techniques and try shooting arrows at a target (approx. 4 arrows). Through the workshop, you will not only gain a deeper understanding of kyudo’s rich history and its significance in Japanese culture, but also experience the meditative state of mind and focus that Kyudo brings to your body and mind.
Before the workshop is concluded, you will receive a certificate of completion to acknowledge your participation and effort.
