Overview
In this embroidery workshop you will discover the beauty of one of the most popular embroideries (Otomi, Pepenado and/or Cross Stitch) where you will be taught all the specific embroidery techniques.
The workshop includes moments for participants to share their experiences, also to show their progress and provide useful advice, this creates a collaborative and motivating environment, where everyone can learn from each other.
Otomi Embroidery:
You will discover the beauty of one of the most representative Mexican embroideries from the center of the country, Tenango Embroidery.
Pepenado Embroidery
You will discover the pepenado technique, a type of embroidery used by different indigenous groups in the center of the country. You will make a sample book with 4 different traditional designs embroidered by hand with colored threads.
Cross-stitch
You will discover the most representative embroidery of Yucatán.
Counted thread or also known as cross stitch, with this stitch the beautiful hipiles of the Mayan community are decorated.

The workshop is located on 72nd Street between 41st Street and 43rd Street. Parking in Mérida is free on the street as long as you just have to remember NOT to park on the yellow line.

What To Expect
Throughout the workshop, information is shared about the history and cultural importance of embroidery. Participants will learn about the relationship between crafts and cultural identity, as well as the role of art in preserving traditions.
First we will get to know each other, then we will talk about the history of the embroidery that we are going to work on and the importance of its preservation, we will continue with the distribution of materials and we will begin to work with the embroidery.
At the end of the workshop, we will give a conclusion of what was learned and you will take home what you did in the workshop to finish or save it.
