Overview
Pocahontas stayed in London only for one year and died at the age of 20. During her short life, she managed to introduce the New World to the London audience.
Pocahontas was a Native American woman born around 1595. She was the daughter of the powerful Chief Powhatan, the ruler of the Powhatan tribal nation. She later married British colonist, John Rolfe and travelled to London in 1616. On this tour, you would see London through the eyes of Pocahontas, learn stories about 17th century Britain and its connection to the colonies.

Tower of London
Meet your guide in front of the Tower Hill tube station. Walk towards Tower of London, one of the most iconic castles in the World and hear stories about prisoner Henry Percy, 9th Earl of Northumberland or ‘ Wizard Earl’, whom Pocahontas visited during her stay in London. His nickname, the Wizard Earl, reflected his love of science, experiments, and all-round tinkering. Hear great stories about London’s oldest Palace and think how some people managed to escape from the Tower’s prison.

St. Paul's Cathedral
Afterwards, you will continue your way towards St Paul’s Cathedral, which was a favourite meeting place in the 17th century. It is very likely Pocahontas came to the cathedral both to worship and to meet people.

The rector of the church, Samuel Purchas, was a travel writer who collected stories of people who had been abroad and wrote about Pocahontas as well.
