Overview
We will be enjoying beautiful nature in this unique part of Egypt, traveling by camel or on foot in the desert. The Sinai desert is one of only a few places in the world where you will be in real tribal land, without roads or road signs. The only people who can navigate this terrain are our local Bedouin guides, who know the terrain like no one else. They can identify native plants and find their way by looking at the shape of the mountains.

What To Expect
South Sinai
We will pick you up at your Dahab hotel at 8 am to drive for an hour on the road to Wadi Gazallah. Here we leave the car behind and head into the desert. We hike for about 10 minutes to the beginning of Majaaza Canyon or, as the Bedouin call it, Hamata Canyon. This exciting canyon is filled with narrow passageways and climbs. The canyon is named after the fig (‘hamata’) tree at the end. The hike through the canyon takes about an hour.

From there, we ride our camels or hike for about one and a half hours to the top of Salama Canyon. It is also know as the Small Coloured Canyon or Red Canyon. Here we leave the camels and climb down through this canyon with its beautiful red and ochre colours. The hike through the canyon takes about half an hour. At the end of the canyon, we’ll drink some Bedouin tea, meet our camels again and then continue riding or hiking for about one and a half hours. Here we meet our car, which will take us back to Dahab. We will be in Dahab around 5 pm. Lunch will be provided around 1 pm in the desert.
