This unique tour offers both a challenging hike through the Ormiston Pound; arguably one of Australia's most spectacular half-day hikes, as well as visiting the majority of other spectacular sites the West MacDonnell Ranges has to offer.
Throughout the day you will connect, unwind and explore the beating heart of this ancient land and it's culture, flora and fauna.
This 11 hour, fun-filled adventure will leave you exhausted, filled with knowledge and fun facts about the Red Centre, and with a huge smile on your face!

This 8.5km hike will take you right into the heart of this natural impoundment; a vast expanse filled with diverse flora and abundant bird life, and surrounded by an impressive wall of towering quartzite cliffs. Not for the feint hearted, this hike has a few uphill slogs, some serious boulder-hopping, and usually an icy cold water crossing, so be prepared to get wet! This 4 hour trek will have you captivated by the raw beauty and untamed spirit of Australia's lush, wild outback. After the hike you will be rewarded with a delicious, fresh lunch and have the option to take a dip in the chilly waters of Ormiston Gorge's picturesque swimming hole. Get yourself a hot coffee or an ice cream at the Ormiston Cafe before we meander our way back to Alice Springs via the Ochre Pits, Ellery Creek Big Hole and last but definitely not least, Simpson's Gap. (time spent at this attraction includes 1 hour 30 minutes travel time from Alice Springs to Ormiston Gorge)

The Ochre Pits formation is created from naturally pigmented clay and mineral deposits. This picturesque formation is famous for its' vibrant colors, and made even more fascinating by it's 90 degree angle, much like Uluru. This site remains active to the local Indigenous people, who continue to work with ochre for ceremonial and artistic purposes. The vivid reds, yellows, and whites of the cliffs create a stunning sight, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the land. (time includes 20 minutes travel time from Ormiston Gorge to Ochre Pits)

Ellery Creek Big Hole is a stunning natural waterhole nestled in the heart of the West MacDonnell Ranges. Surrounded by towering red cliffs and endemic vegetation, its cool green waters invite you to cool off on a hot day. This oasis in the outback is a haven for wildlife and a serene spot to immerse yourself in the beauty of nature. (Time includes 30 min travel time from Ochre Pits to Ellery Creek).

Millions of years of erosion has left us with this beautiful, natural cleft in the MacDonnell Ranges. Towering red cliffs frame the narrow gap where a tranquil pool sits feeding off a natural underground spring. This serene oasis is a haven for native wildlife, including the illusive black-footed rock wallabies that hide amongst the boulders of a massive rock-slide. This makes for a fun game of wallaby-spotting, usually with positive results! It's a picturesque final destination, perfect to take a moment of quiet reflection amidst nature's beauty before returning safely to your hotel for the evening.
