Medjugorje is one of the most famous Roman Catholic pilgrimage destinations in the world. It became known through the apparitions of the Virgin Mary, which began to appear as a phenomenon in 1981, after which religious tourism began to develop. Since then, this Herzegovinian place, is one of the most visited tourist centers in BiH, which is visited annually by about a million Catholics from all over the world. In contrast to the Marian shrine in Lourdes, France, which, with its six million tourists and believers annually, has become a real commercial paradise for local restaurateurs, Medjugorje still retains its original charm, where pilgrims find peace in their faith.Mostar is a city on the Neretva River. It is known for the legendary Old Bridge, a reconstructed medieval arch bridge. What To Expect
Medugorje
Medjugorje is a town in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It’s been an unofficial place of Catholic pilgrimage since the Virgin Mary allegedly appeared on Apparition Hill in 1981. There is a “Queen of Peace” statue marking the site of the 1st apparition and one in front of the St. James Church. Liquid has been said to drip from the “Risen Christ” statue near the church. A concrete cross tops Cross Mountain, to the south.
