Whether you are hoping to explore the Georgian features of Benjamin Franklin's only surviving home and learn about the House's fascinating history and conservation, to experience a dramatic integration of live performance and audio-visual projections which details Franklin's time in London, a senior member of staff will be happy to create a bespoke visit for you and your group.
The Historical Experience presents the excitement and uncertainty of Franklin's London years using rooms where so much took place as staging for a drama that seamlessly integrates live performance, cutting edge lighting, sound and visual projection.
The Architectural Tour explores the Georgian features of House, along with its fascinating history encompassing Franklin’s residence, the Hewson anatomy school, and the comprehensive conservation project that saved it from dereliction.

What To Expect
Benjamin Franklin House
Rescued from dereliction, Benjamin Franklin’s only surviving residence, located in the heart of London, opened for the first time in January 2006 on Franklin’s 300th birthday as a dynamic museum and educational facility. Franklin, Founding Father of the United States, renowned scientist and ingenious inventor, called this small, elegant building home for nearly 16 years between 1757 and 1775. The main offering is the Historical Experience which uses live performance and leading edge sound, lighting and visual projection to tell Franklin’s rich London story in his own words, particularly his efforts to keep Britain and America together under the Crown. Setting a new standard for historical interpretation, visitors gain a sense of the complexity of the man and the times in which he lived: from health and daily living, social and personal relationships, to inventions, scientific work, and political triumphs and woes.
