Overview
Visit Le Thoronet, one of the Cistercian order’s most remarkable abbeys. The Abbey of Thoronet was built at the end of the 12th century. The whole monastery is forceful expression of the simplicity and precision of the order of Saint-Bernard. Your ticket allows you direct entry to the monument.

What To Expect
Abbaye du Thoronet
Make your own way to the Abbey of Thoronet in Provence and use your pre-paid ticket to enjoy access. Once inside, set out on a self-guided tour and spend as long as you like exploring the Cistercian abbey. Built between 1160 and 1230, Le Thoronet Abbey, together with Silvacane and Sénanque, is one of three Cistercian abbeys in Provence. In danger of falling into disrepair after the French Revolution, restoration work began on this masterpiece in 1841. Generations of architects were inspired by the purity and simplicity of the internal space, dictated mainly by the organisation of community life. Le Corbusier visited the site in 1953 and wrote: "In these days of ‘raw concrete’, however fêted, welcome and blessed it may be, this was such a marvellous encounter along the way."

- Suitable for all physical fitness levels
- Entrance is free for anyone under the age of 18 years old. Citizens and permanent residents from the European Union can visit for free if they are aged between 18 and 25 years old (an ID is necessary).
- The monument is closed on January 1st, May 1st - November 1st and 11th - December 25th
- Please note that the monument will be closing at 4pm on December 24th and 31st.
- Please note that travellers will not receive any refund regardless of cancellation status, even if the monument is closed on your visit date, you can use this ticket any other open day.
- Opening hours from October 1st 2024 to March 31st 2025: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.
- Please note that access to the monument will be free on September 21th and 22th during the European Heritage Days. The monument is also free the first Sunday of each month from November to March.
