Welcome to Parque de Los Novios, a charming and historic landmark in the heart of Santa Marta, Colombia. This picturesque park, also known as Parque Santander, has a fascinating history that stretches back centuries. Originally a small lake fed by the Manzanares River, it was transformed into a bustling market plaza in the 19th century. After the market relocated, the locals affectionately named it Placita Vieja, a name that has evolved over time. Today, Parque de Los Novios is a beloved spot for both locals and visitors. Its romantic name, 'Park of the Lovers', was inspired by the many couples who frequented it decades ago. However, don't let the name fool you; this park is a welcoming space for everyone, whether you're traveling alone, with friends, or with family.
