The cemetery covers a large area of 250 hectares, and has hundreds of colorful and elaborate mausoleums that reflect the wealth and beliefs of the villagers. The cemetery started to develop in 1995, when many residents of An Bang Village emigrated to Europe and the USA, and sent money back to their relatives to build tombs for their ancestors or themselves.
