Throughout his life, Diego Rivera amassed an impressive collection of pre-Hispanic artifacts, envisioning that the space to house them would be an inhabitable artistic masterpiece. In 1941, Diego began the construction of the Anahuacalli, seamlessly integrating modern art with pre-Columbian aesthetics. To achieve this, the painter acquired land made of volcanic rock from the Xitle volcano. With the idea of bequeathing it to the people of Mexico, Rivera conceived the Anahuacalli as a unique architectural work: a City of the Arts in perpetual creation. Currently, the museum houses over 45,000 pieces, with 2,000 on permanent display. Don't miss it! Admission to the Frida Kahlo Museum also includes entry to the Diego Rivera-Anahuacalli Museum!
