Overview
This workshop is very unique and worth to join. You can own your Japanese kitchen knife and experience professional sharpener's work.
In Japan, there are only 6 cities that they produce Japanese kitchen knives. Sakai city is one of them. Sakai has little unique face that they produce Japanese kitchen knives with separating the process such as blacksmith part, sharpener part, making handle part, and sales part. It means each part is managed by different companies. Then they can specialize their work as a professional.
This workshop is belonging to the sharpener's part. So you will visit the sharpener's factory and use the equipment, tools, and knowledge from the master.

What's Included
Meeting And Pickup
Meeting point
5 minutes from Ayano-cho tram station of Hankai line. The meeting point is between old Sushi restaurant and a regular house, the building looks traditional but new.

What To Expect
We're meeting up at the meeting point and move to the factory.
In this workshop, you can visit a professional sharpener's factory to experience sharpening knife and fitting the handle. To sharpen the knife, we will prepare the
glasses, mask, and apron for you.
You will get a rough sharpened knife which will belong to you and the master will explain about the factory and the tools. After that, he will show and teach you the way how to sharpen the knife with a big wheel sharpener.
There are many processes to sharpen and polishing the knife to be done.
After sharpening, you will put the handle on the blade.
And the master will engrave your favorite letters on the blade.
At the end of the workshop, finally you can get your original kitchen knife.
