We will explore the fascinating world of shod?, the traditional Japanese calligraphy art with hundreds of years of history! At this experience you will be able to give life to a unique but typically Japanese work of art. First, imagine the kanji (word) that you want to write and the scenery (picture) inspired by it. Don’t worry, the master of Shod? K?ji Takano will guide you to transform your idea in something exclusive so even beginners can feel at ease. Finally, your masterpiece is completed. We will deliver valuable time that can only be experienced in Japan to tourists visiting Japan.

Meeting point
Exit from Asakusa Station Exit 3 and proceed west on Kaminarimon Dori toward Kaminarimon Ichinomiya Dori. Turn right onto Orange Street and go straight ahead. The destination is on the 4th floor of the building（The Room Asakusa） on the left of you.

What To Expect
We will explore the fascinating world of shodō, the traditional Japanese calligraphy art with hundreds of years of history! Master of Shodō Kōji Takano will introduce you to a personal approach to calligraphy that consists in express yourself in a totally free artistic process, expanding your imagination and creativity.
At this experience you will be able to give life to a unique but typically Japanese work of art. The instructor will guide you to transform your idea in something exclusive, and finally your masterpiece is completed.

Lecture about creative calligraphy
Selection
Think a theme or words you want to write it. If you can't decided, choose from the collection (picture or design) and the word (message or name) by Takano sensen.
Warming up
How to use the writing brush, how to draw circles and lines.
Practice
How to transmit your idea and the message you want to write.
Shodō
Create your masterpiece using ink and paints on a poster-art paper (shikishi).
