Sengan-en

Sengan-en Garden was built in 1658 by Mitsuhisa, the 19th generation of the Shimazu family. The garden overlooking Sakurajima is one of the most beautiful views in Kagoshima Prefecture. The garden, which overlooks Sakurajima, is one of Kagoshima Prefecture's most representative landscapes. The 15,000-tsubo (9,000-square-meter) site, with its flowers in bloom in each of the four seasons, includes the Shoko Shuseikan, where materials and cultural assets related to the Satsuma clan and the Shimazu family are on display, and the palace, which was registered as a World Cultural Heritage in 2015 as a place that led the modernization of Japan.

Sakurajima Lava Nagisa Promenade

Sakurajima was created approximately 26,000 years ago. Easily accessible from downtown Kagoshima, Sakurajima attracts many visitors as an active volcano that continues to erupt in smoke.
